Ensuredmail Reader Instructions
Ensuredmail secure email messages are delivered to you within an HTML file which is attached to an email messsage. When opening the attachment, your computer will open the HTML file within the default Internet browser.

If you have followed these instructions and still cannot open the Ensuredmail message you received please run a compatibility test which will identify any steps you need to perform to successfully decrypt and read the message.
Internet Explorer Users
Depending on your security settings, you may see the security warning window shown below prior to being prompted for a password:
Important Note: If your computer is using the Sun Java Virtual Machine to interpret Java, you will be prompted as if you were using Netscape 6 or above.

You must answer "Yes" to this warning or the Ensuredmail reader will not be able to run. If you select "Always trust content from Ensuredmail, Inc." before clicking "Yes", you will never be prompted with this security warning again. If you do not, you may see this security warning again after your decrypted content is displayed as well as each time you open an Ensuredmail message.
Depending on the size of your message you may see the following screen for a few seconds:

Then you will be prompted for a password:

Enter the appropriate password and click on the Read My Email button.
If the password is correct you will see the decrypted content.
Netscape 4.x Users
Depending on your security settings, you may see the three security warning windows shown below prior to being prompted for a password. You must click on "Grant" each time you are prompted in order for Ensuredmail to be able to decrypt the message that you received.



IMPORTANT NOTE: If the size of the attachment (usually named emSecureMsg.html) is larger that 3 Megabytes you may have issues successfully decrypting the message. Please upgrade to Netscape 6.x or higher or use/install Internet Explorer to open the attachment.
Netscape Navitator 6-7, Firebird (Formerly Phoenix) Users
Depending on your security settings, you may see the security warning window shown below prior to being prompted for a password. You must answer "Grant this session" to this warning or the Ensuredmail reader will not be able to run.
If you select "Grant always" you will never be prompted with this security warning again. If you do not, you may see this security warning again after your decrypted content is displayed as well as each time you open an Ensuredmail message.

Webmail Users
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MSN 8.0 Users: There is a known bug with MSN Explorer 8.0 where any HTML attachments are blocked from being downloaded or viewed. You must pick up your email from Hotmail in order to download HTML attachments. Microsoft has confirmed that this bug is fixed in the 8.5 release of MSN Explorer which should be publicly available soon.
Click on attachment which should take you to a page that looks similar to this. Download the file by clicking on the "Download File" button. (Example done with Hotmail. Screens will vary with different providers.)

Your browser will prompt you with a choice to open or save the file. Select "Open" and you should be prompted for the message password.

Outlook Express 6.0 Attachment Issues
Note: Be sure that you are running an updated antivirus program to ensure you are protected before following these directions.
OE6 has a security setting that only allows plain-text attachments. When this feature is turned on, you will not be able to open the .html files even though they are downloaded on the PC. There may be a Microsoft security patch that changes this setting from OFF to ON which is why attachments may work to a point and all of a sudden stop working.
1) Check the Security Setting
Under Tools->Options
Select the Security Tab

2) If it is checked, uncheck the option

3) Check your Inbox and see if the attachment(s) are available.
Lotus Notes
When you double-click on the attachment, Lotus Notes will display the following window:

Select Launch, your browser will open, and you will be propmted for the message password.
If you try the above and your system will not open the attachment in a browser window, please follow these instructions (.pdf ~500K) on how to associate a browser with your HTML attachments. You will only need to follow them once and from then on, the Launch button will always work when opening Ensuredmail messages.
